PARA PARA PARADISE...
Konami have created an arcade game based on PARA PARA, called Para Para Paradise which is currently very popular in Japan [and HK and Singapore].
On the right, you can see a pic of the arcade game. It has 5 directional sensors above you [left, diagonal left, forward, diagonal right and right], which detect any movement below them. In order to play, arrows show up on the screen and when they get to the top of the screen, you sinply extend your arm in the direction of the corresponding arrow. If there is a vertical line between arrows, you are supposed to hold that arm in that direction to pose. The game comes with a dvd that shows the para routine while you play, so you can play in real para para style.
The game has 2 modes. Para para and Freestyle mode, with Para para mode allowing you to perform a para para routine, and Freestyle mode is exactly that, freestyle.
It looks like an intimidating machine to play on, but I'm assured that once you start playing you won't care 'cause it's so much fun.
Left is a screenshot of the game. The arrows shown there pretty much mean you need to swipe your arms across from right to left to right etc.
Below, is a close-up of the gauge. The game judges how well you play by whether you cross the sensors at the right time and how far from the beat you do it. You can acheive a "great", "good", "bad" or "poor". The more "great"s you get, the better.
There's even a version you can play at home on your PS2. Left is a pic of the controller. |
