2009 Training Program Schedule
Three Sessions, May 15 through August 22
Session I: May 12 - June 5, Track & Field, T, TH, F - 5:45-7:30 p.m., ages 9 & up
Session II: June 9 - July 16, Track & Field, T, TH, F -- 5:45-7:30 p.m., ages 9 & up
     Long Jump practice: TH (6:30-7:30)
     High Jump practice: F (6:30-7:30)
Session III: July 20 - August 21, Distance Running--XC/Road Racing, T, TH, F - 6:00-8:00 p.m., ages 12 & up

Registration will be through Portland Park & Rec, practices held at Portland High School

More than 150 athletes participate...
and once again... the record book has been rewritten!


In the fifth year of the Mid-Summer Youth All-Comers Track Meet, 34 records were broken in 14 girls events and 20 boys events. Although no Youth CTTC athletes broke records this year, 31 athletes competed. ALL participants scored points for our team and many had personal-best performances!! High point scorers were:
Trisha D'Onofrio, Frank Kronenberger (26 pts each)
Justin Curneal (24 pts)
Emma Cook, Hanna Cook (22 pts each)

SUMMER 2006...

Cook and Curneal represent CTTC
at 2006 National Championships!


Hannah Cook competed in both the AAU and USATF National Championships -- reaching the medal stand in both meets. Hannah placed 5th at the USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field Championship in Baltimore, MD (July) in the Bantam High Jump (3'11") and 21st in the Triathlon. At the AAU JO Games in Norfolk, VA, she placed 7th in High Jump improving her jump to 4'00"!

Justin Curneal competed at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championship in Baltimore, MD in the Midget 3000m placing 31st (12:27). Justin went on to compete in the AAU Junior Olympic XC Championship in Orlando (December) placing 106 in the 3K event (13:16).
Congratuations to Justin and Hannah for finishing their seasons in fine form!

CTTC Athletes participate in USATF-CT and Region I Championships
Hannah Cook (triathlon, high jump), Justin Curneal (3000m), and Kelsey Rooth (javelin) qualify for USATF National Junior Olympic Championship, Baltimore, MD, to be held later this month.

2006 Offered Throws Program
...with extraordinary thrower, Paul Pisano -- the current Big East record holder in the javelin and 2004 US Olympic Trials finalist.
Paul really knows his stuff and is an excellent teacher -- this was a fabulous opportunity for throwers, especially at the intermdiate and advanced levels.

The Junior Running Club
For Runners in Grades 2-6
Running for Competition
This program will target runners wishing to compete in track events. Participants are encouraged to participate in local and regional track meets and may register as a member of the USATF Connecticut Track Club.
Ages 10 and up
Distance Running
For runners interested in pre-season training for fall cross country or road races. Weekly long runs. Some training offsite.
