In addition to the Cardinal, above left, a few other characters entertained the fans on July 12, 2002.  The favorite was Harry Canary, right, who lead the crowd in the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame"  and was brave enough to walk on the main aisle for a few minutes before the kids got too close for comfort.
The clubhouse?  Last building down right.
The Games
1) On July 8, 2001, we (my 3 kids and I) saw the NJ Cards play the Staten Island Yankees.  The Yanks scored 2 in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd, with leadoff hitter Kevin Thompson singling and scoring in each frame.  NJ came back to take the lead, scoring 2 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th.  Chris Netwall singled and scored in each frame.  John Nelson drove him in in the 4th with a 2-run homer.  SI blew it open in the 6th, putting 5 on the board, 3 on a home run by Shelley Duncan.  Final score: Yanks 9, Cards 5.

2) On July 12, 2002, I saw the Cards play the Tri-City Valley Cats.  One week earlier, I saw the Valley Cats at home in
Troy, NY.  NJ opened the scoring with 2 in the 1st.  Tri-City tied it in the 2nd.  Each team scored once in the 3rd.  NJ took the lead, 6-3, with 3 in the 4th.  Tri-City came within one run in the 6th.  NJ scored an insurance run in the 8th to make it 7-5.  Tri-City scored in the 9th, but fell short, 7-6.  Jason Reuss homered for Tri-City.  For NJ, Reid Gorecki and Billy Schmitt hit solo shots.
