The NAACP Statewide Health Committee coordinate the formation of all the NAACP Health Committees at the branches level and developed a
statewide strategic plan.
The committee is offering its assistance and expertise to all local NAACP branches to establish and organize an active Health Committee. These Health Committees are and will address emerging health issues in their communities that affect the African Americans and other ethnic minorities.
Together we can improve the health and the quality of life for all African Americans.
NAACP National Health Committee Goals:
- Organize new NAACP branch Health Committees
- Develop national health education initiatives
- Expand outreach in communities
- Sponsor collaborative programs with other national and local health groups
| Why the Health Committee is important | |
|
The NAACP Health Committee is instrumental in generating public and media interest by educating others and calling attention to most important community health issues, health risk factors and potential treatments that continue to present a serious obstacle to the African Americans. The African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities are profoundly affected by the collective belief, attitudes, behaviors and health problems ranging from low child immunization rates to HIV/AIDS.
We can make dramatic progress in improving the health status of the African Americans in relatively short period of time if we address the preventable, treatable and curable diseases. |
