SANTA CLAUS VISIT TO CORNWALL TERRACE AND WESTERN MEADOWS

The Santa Run will be held on Sunday, December 17th starting at 5:00pm.  In case of inclement weather, the run will be the next day.  If you wish to receive a treat from one of Santa’s helpers, please turn on your porch light.  Expect a visit anywhere between 5:00 & 8:30 pm.  If interested in being a Santa’s helper, call Cindy @ 610-670-1169 or Beverly @ 610-670-1009.  We are looking for volunteers, 10 years of age or older, since there is a lot of walking involved.

**Please note: We will not be going up Spohn as this road is extremely dangerous.  If you live on Spohn Road or Rebecca Drive and want your children to receive goodies from Santa, please call Cindy or Bev with your name and telephone number.  Santa will make a stop at the corners of Avon, Shakespeare, or Beacon Drive off of Spohn.

A heartfelt thank you to Cindy & Nate Brown, Allison & John Piscitelli for organizing this event.

DAILY LOTTERY FOR FEBRUARY 2007

It’s time for the lottery!  The block captains on your street will be coming around to sell the tickets.  If your street doesn’t have a block captain, you can call Beverly at 610-670-1009 or email [email protected].  The lottery will be held during the month of February.  The cost is $5.00 per ticket.  Winnings for straight numbers, based on the Pennsylvania Daily Lottery (7:00pm drawing only) will be awarded $75.00 for weekdays and $100.00 for weekends.

Buy more than one ticket and increase your chance to win.  Sell to your co-workers, neighbors, family and friends.  They will be ideal Christmas stocking stuffers for that hard to buy person.

Remember as an added bonus for anyone who sells 20 tickets will have a chance of winning a check for $50.00!  So don’t forget to support this major fundraiser so that we can continue with our family activities, as well as, playground maintenance.

Thank you and GOOD LUCK.

DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY! :  by Brenda Daelhousen

As the CTCA Secretary for 6+ years, I have really appreciated the opportunity to help my community be neighborly.  I think being a good neighbor means getting to know each other, having good, constructive fun together, and helping with needs.  It means showing interest, respect, and care for the people we live near.  Although some do this automatically, it's also easy to get overly focused within our own busy households.  Having an active Community Association encourages good neighbor actions, and helps to continue the pleasant environment we all enjoy.  Neighbors who know each other are also less fearful, and can be a deterrent to crime by looking out for each other.

What I'm trying to say is that our Cornwall Terrace Community Association (CTCA) is a very good thing and benefits all of us who live here.  But, like any other good thing, it doesn't happen by magic.  It takes interested, energetic, caring residents who will give a bit of your time to your Community.  I encourage you to consider the opportunity to get actively involved in the CTCA--whether you are brand new to our Community or are a charter resident, whether you have little children or no children, whether you are 20 years old or 80 or somewhere in the middle like me.  And by the way, CTCA now includes Cornwall Terrace as well as Western Meadows developments, a total of 388 houses (there's a map inside our CTCA Directory, which we hope to update in the near future).

Ours is one of the few Community Associations still functioning, and I'm really appreciative of the residents in years past for doing so.  We have a lot of potential, and as the saying goes, "many hands make light work," which I'd like to modify to, "many heads make awesome ideas."  I encourage you to come out to CTCA Board meetings, usually held on the first Thursday of each month (we're OFF July and August) at 7:00 p.m. in the Spring Township Municipal Building, the 1st floor conference room.  It's a nice walk (enjoy our sidewalks!) or carpool with a neighbor; and children are welcome, but please bring something to occupy them.  Our meetings run 1 to 1 1/2 hours long, and are a friendly time.  Our attendance the last few years has been about 6 or 7, most of us officers; we would love to double or triple that!

While you are considering opportunities, would you think about becoming our new Secretary?  I would like to hand this position to someone else--I can assure you that the Board is very accommodating while you write the "minutes".  If you are interested, simply come to the December 1st meeting or give a call to me (610-678-1660) or our President Cindy Arters (610-927-1330).  I'm willing to continue in this position into 2007 until someone else volunteers, but also plan to stay involved in the Board meetings and chair one or two activities a year.

NOMINATION OF 2007 OFFICERS

President: Cindy Arters

Vice President: Beverly Piscitelli

Treasurer: Deb Franck

Secretary: OPEN

Voting will take place at the December meeting.  All members are welcome to attend.

BUSINESS CARD DIRECTORY

In the January 2006 issue of the CTCA Tips, we will be doing a business card directory.  It is nice to know what your neighbors do so you can patronize a local

business.  The cost is $5.00 per business card & please make sure the business card is able to be copied on a color copier.  If you have more than one business be sure to submit one for each.  This will not only give your neighbors an idea of what you do but may generate new business for you or your company as well.

Please send your business card and check made payable to CTCA to Cindy Arters @ 132 Bradley Avenue,  Sinking Spring, PA  19608.  We will print all cards that are turned in even if only a few.  If you do not have an “official” business card feel free to create one and submit that.  Keep in mind that the info should be condenced to fit the size of a business card.  Any questions, please call Cindy Arters @ 610-927-1330.

CTCA HALLOWEEN PARTY SUMMARY:  by Marnie Adam

On 10/21/06 we held the annual CTCA Halloween Costume Contest and Party.  We had 22 kids register and 21 who actually attended.  Best Costumes were by age group and included a robot, pink poodle and a toxic waste can.  The scariest was a skeleton girl.  The cutest was Pooh Bear.  The prettiest was a pair of princesses.  The most original was a cowboy riding a horse and the judges choice award went to a witch.  All the costumes were wonderful and the parents were very helpful. We played several games and there were lots of prizes given and everyone received a treat bag.  Special thanks to the judges, Bev Piscitelli, Brenda Daelhousen and Lew Beitz and my helpers Anthony Pappas and Michael Sanner.  While it was a very fun event, due to the low turnout over the past couple of years, we are looking at canceling or replacing this event with some other type of Fall activity.  If you have any input or ideas, please feel free to share them at a board meeting or e-mail [email protected]
