CTCA TIPS: October 2007

October’s Meeting: Thursday, October, 4th. @ 7:00pm at Heather Kenny’s house at 2721 Beacon Drive *********** Please note that due to the changes at the township building, the monthly meetings will be at individual’s homes. Please check back as to their locations.

VOLUNTEER NEEDED FOR SANTA RUN:

We need a volunteer to chair the annual "Santa Run". CTCA provides the decorations, money for the treats and gas. Please volunteer if you have access to a pick-up truck. If no one volunteers, this event will be cancelled. It will be a pity, if Santa can't bring good cheer to our children this year. If interested call Bev Piscitelli at 610-670-1009 or email [email protected]. I need a response by October 27th.

Sunshine News: by Cheryl Reichart

A sympathy card was sent to Tim Wolf of Tennyson Ave. His brother had passed away. We wish to express our deepest sympathies.

Please send all sunshine news to Cheryl Reichart: (610)678-5398. Thank You!

SAFETY ALERT:
Please be aware, especially if you have school aged children walking to Cornwall Terrace on Avon Ave., that there have been several reported incidents of dog attacks.  There have been reports of at least two biting incidents and the police are involved.  We are planning on attending a township meeting on October 9th at 7:30 pm at the township building regarding this safety issue and hope you will be able to join us.  We will also be looking to provide our community with educational information regarding animal safety in future TIPS issues.

Cornwall Terrace Annual Halloween Costume Contest and Festivities:
Dress the kids up (0-12) and bring them out for the annual Halloween Costume Contest and Festivities.   This years event will be held on Sunday October 14, at the Cornwall Terrace playground at 2:00pm .  Please call Marnie @ 610-927-3173 or e-mail [email protected]with your child's NAME(s) and AGE(s) and your name and phone number by October 12th.  This event is free for dues paying household members.  Don't have kids???   Come on out anyway!  Many of our Board Members participate as Judges, so feel free to stop out and meet them and check out all the great costumes.

Keats Drive Annual Yard Haunt and Charity Drive:  by Marnie Beitz
Maybe you've heard the screams on Halloween?  Ever wondered what was going on?  Come check it out this Halloween (10/31) as friends and neighbors help with the Annual Yard Haunt at 205 Keats Drive.  This is not a CTCA sponsored event, but it is a free event for anyone who would care to attend.  This year we are collecting items for the Humane Society of Berks County. Check out this website for their wish list:

http://www.berkshumane.org/donations/donations_wish.asp
It is NOT necessary to bring a donation....we'll still try and scare you and give you a treat regardless.  Questions?  Would you like to help out???  Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]

THANKSGIVING DAY BASKETS 2007 :

Autumn brings the harvest, and that makes thankful hearts. Cornwall Terrace Community Association will again coordinate the collection and delivery of “Thanksgiving Day Baskets” to needy families in our local area. This is a wonderful way to “love our neighbor,” building bridges with compassion as we all cope with security issues near and far. There is no better way to express our thankfulness than by giving to those who have not been as fortunate this year.

Last year, C.T.C.A. was able to give 30 families an entire turkey dinner due to your kind donations! With the help of our Block Captains, we will be asking each home to donate a specific food item plus $2.00 toward the purchase of the turkeys. The list of specific food items and where/when to drop them off will be in the November issue of the TIPS. Anyone who can donate copier paper boxes (with tops), please give me a call now!

Thank you for your generosity!
