CTCA TIPS: February 2009

FEBRUARY MEETING:  Thursday, February 5th @ 7:00pm at Bev Piscitelli's house at 2631 Whittier Avenue.

 NEW FAMILIES

Where are you????  We take great pride in our wonderful community association and need you now to keep this organization active. Come join us for our sociable monthly meeting and get to know your neighbors. If you cannot join us, then volunteer to help with an event. My intention is to compile a list of names that we can call on for help. If you could possibly give some of your time, then please email Bev Piscitelli, [email protected] so that I could add your name to our call list.  Since there are close to 400 families in our amiable community, I am optimistic that there are some of you out there willing to give us a helping hand. Don't be shy. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We look forward to meeting or hearing from you.

BLOCK CAPTAINS NEEDED

Thank you very much to Rob Santoro, Connie Hoffman and Linda Spoonhoward for their many years of volunteering their time. We need captains for Upper Tennyson, Temple Drive, 200-300 blocks of Bard and 100 block of Spohn Road. This is a very rewarding opportunity for you to take an active role in our community.  If interested please contact Bev Piscitelli 610-670-1009 or email [email protected].

Here is a list of Block Captain responsibilities:

1. As part of the Sunshine Committee, you notify the Sunshine Chairperson (Anne Larky 610-927-0820) of any new neighbors, hospitalizations, obituaries and birth announcements.

2. Ask your neighbors to support our fundraisers- Daily Lottery in February and Kauffman's Chicken Barbecue in May.

3. Donations for Thanksgiving Baskets.

4. Update community telephone directory every three years.

CTCA MEMBERSHIP DUES

It is that time of year again; time to request your $15 membership fee, which is now due.  Why should you become a member?  Because your membership fee pays for...

  • the utility bill for the playground that your children or grandchildren may use

  • the Easter Egg Hunt

  • the Santa Run- It's nice to receive a knock on the door from Santa's helpers

  • Discounted Arena Football tickets

  • The Sunshine Committee- We are able to send flowers to our neighbors in their time of need

  • The Christmas Bowling Party, this year it was FREE of charge to all CTCA members; something fun and FREE during the holiday when everyone is watching their spending. Next year we may not be able to provide this event free of charge.

Besides these benefits there is also fundraising that takes place that your membership fee helps to support:

  • The BBQ during the Annual Yard Sale

  • The Lottery.

This year we are publishing our proposed budget; as you can see we are operating at approximately a $2000 deficit.  The BEST thing that you can do is pay your dues by 2/1/09 so that you can take advantage of these events and the CTCA can continue to provide them and perhaps add new ones as well.

The CTCA is an organization that benefits the community where you live.

 FAMILY GLO-BOWLING WRAP-UP
About 65 people enjoyed the annual Christmas Party.  Santa
made an appearance with gift bags for all the kids.  We collected
toys for the Olivets Boys & Girls Club.  Everyone who attended
had a great time
.

SANTA RUN WRAP-UP

This was an eventful year for me in the Cornwall Terrace/Western Meadows area. My truck broke down half way through my run. But thanks to the speed and quick thinking of John Arters the Elves and I were soon back on our journey, delivering candy throughout the neighborhood. It was wonderful to see the children come out and greet me. This event would not have been possible without the help of my Elves: Rich Sachetta, Evan Gromlich, Chris Castro, Emily Urlich, Cierra Wentzl, Alyssa Arters, Amanda Arters, Anthony Pappas, Marnie Beitz, Nancy Weinheimer, Miranda Kenny, and Eamon Kenny.

EDITOR’S NOTE

Your TIPS editor must apologize, but, as freaky as this sounds, BOTH the TIPS editor AND the Sunshine Lady have had computer issues that resulted in the purchase of a new computer.

Problems began with my Mail program and deteriorated from there. If anyone sent me anything that was not posted here, please call or email (I have the mail problem fixed, just not on the computer I am working with now).

I have no idea what’s up with that Sunshine Lady. She really should be fired, don’t you think??

Incidentally, does anyone know anything about Office 2008 for MAC???

Just curious. . .

Sorry about this,

Your TIPS Editor
