| Half way around the world is a long way... a very long way.... Along our 48 hours of travelling, we got to spend 8 hours in LA, 3 hours in Seoul, and 8 hours in Dehli. After arriving at 1:00 am in Dehli, we decided to hit the city and get a hotel to wash up... after no less than three or four rip offs, we arrived at a 5-star hotel to kick off our budget trip. It was actually quite nice, although I think we spent longer in the shower than in bed... the next morning we walked around Dehli and headed on to Kathmandu (of course our flight was delayed 6 hours... so we hopped on another carrier...) Finally, we hit Kathmandu, but missed our contact from our trekking company since we came in on another flight... One of the joys of international travel is fighting the hordes of hawkers and scam artists at airports... We finally landed in the Tibeten Guest House in a fairly musty room w/no windows... I would say that was a bummer, but both Joe and I woke up the next morning, fully dressed, on top of the covers... safe to say the room didn't matter much the first night. |

| We arranged for our trek to Everest... as it ends up, we saved about 2/5 of our money by booking here since we lost our other company at the airport... we were pretty proud of our first day in Kathmandu The next morning, we ascended to the roof of our Guest House and took in Kathmandu. Kathmandu is an amazingly exotic and alive city.... here is how it looks at sunrise. |
