Then after visiting Tom "Gus" Mahon's home page and downloading his video of Mean Mini's killer burnout I started looking for a turbo minivan for myself. Well wouldn't you know it on one of my boneyard hunts I came across a Black 89' Caravan SE Turbo . I talked to the guy and he said they just got it the day before and it doesn't run. I popped the hood to have a look and someone transplanted a complete 84' Turbo 1 engine in there and couldn't figure out why none of the wiring would match up and couldn't get it started.Well to make a long story short I picked it up for $500 and towed it home. I'm currently running on the 84' bottom end with an 88' ShelbyZ top end running on stock eletronics with 3'' exhaust. I have an 2.2 TII common block to go in out of an 89' Daytona Shelby. I plan to bore it .020 over JE Forged Pistons, ported intake and exhaust, MP mild ported head, S60 cam and FM Enforcer 2 Turbo with Charge temp. sensor installed running on 89' MP TII comp., boost bleed, and extra injectors ala "Gus". Here it is as it sits right now. Click on van for more pictures. |

After experiencing troubles with Red Rocket and it being down for two months I decided to look for another Daytona. I started looking on Autofinder.com. It only took me about an hour to find the car I always wanted. An 89' Daytona Shelby 2.2 TII 5Spd.with 69,000 miles located about 300 miles away in Ohio. That weekend I drove over and picked it up. |

Then as luck would have it I ran across an 87' CSX #145 while visiting my in-laws. It was sitting at a farm house in the back of the driveway with two flat tires so I swung in to check it out. I asked him if he would like to sell it and he said "What you mean that Shadow?" so I knew he had no idea what he had. He told me it needed tranny work and that's why it's sitting there. Well I bought it, trailered it home, put in a fresh battery and it fired right up. 150K on it and not even a tick. I pulled the center console apart and found that the shifter cable was severely beent. Yup....sure needs tranny work alright. |
