Mr. St. Hedley - Manatee Science Where the World is Your Laboratory |
| Welcome |
Welcome to the home of Manatee Science where our job is to dispel the mystery and the myths of science and replace them with reality. Every student arrives with his of her own ideas of the world and the way it works. By understanding these differences and building on these beliefs we will discover the basic truths about the world based on theories developed by the greatest minds of human history. So as we continue with our studies it is my hope that each child will rejoice in the beauty of the world and be inspired to learn more about its still undiscovered wonders. |

| Homework |
This seems to always be the hardest task for many of our students. All homework assignments are due the following day for full credit. Second day homework receives half credit. Homework is worth 20% of the student grade. Although homework assignments are not always daily, they are important for introducing new topics or for review and practice. Please check your childs planner daily to see if homework has been assigned. |

| Lab Work and Projects |
Through out the year there will be many hands on activities. Some of these will be lab based while others will be research based. In most cases lab reports and project work will be handed in as typed documents. Students are encouraged to use the school media center to type their reports. If you have a computer at home please encourage your child to work on these reports at home. If you have Microsoft Word they will be able to save their document and work on it at school and home. A thumb drive would make a nice back to school gift. By the way Lab work and projects generally account for 30 % of your childs grade. |
