The Hungarian railways MAV, yesterday on January 23rd, 2003 stopped the service of all CS made railcars Bzmot - similar to CD 810.

The reason was damaged axles.

This caused a huge chaos, because more than 520 stations were influenced, 32 lines were completely closed for passenger traffic and and on another 27 lines was some limited substitution by standard trains and busses.

The decision was published on 22nd at 19:00 o clock, too late for everybody.

Even the railwaymen next day morning had no idea why their regular train was cancelled.

Now MAV runs ultrasound test on all Bzmot cars to detect the damaged axle, and only negatively tested motorcars can be returned into regular service.

There is no information how many from the 519 motorcars had real axle damages.

The government contacted  other railways for additional substitution trains - except the ZSR and CD, because "they have similar problems", told the corresponding minister...

The manufacturer yesterday evening officially was not informed about the axle troubles on MAV Bzmot railcars.

The end results of the test: Among 249 railcars 90 damaged axles were found.
