Pinewood Derby is April 17, 2005

Car check in is at 12:00pm.

Again this year, we will be using a 6-lane track with electronic timing. Each car will be run once in each lane and the average of those runs will be the car's official race time. Please read the instructions inside the derby kit. It gives detailed information on the construction of the derby car.

The following rules are items that are inspected at the time of car check in.

WEIGHTS - The entire finished car cannot weigh more than 5 ounces. All cars are weighed in and cannot be modified after check in. If you add weights to the bottom of the car, they should be countersunk flush with the bottom of the car.

NO LIQUID LUBRICANTS -Dry graphite is the only approved lubricant.

LENGTH AND WIDTH - Car cannot be made longer or wider by adding spoilers or other decorations or accessories.

OFFICIAL CAR - The parts supplied with this kit are the only acceptable car materials. No substitutions of the body, axles, or wheels are allowed.

WHEEL AND AXLES - No modifications to the wheels, hubs or axles are allowed. You may only remove rough spots or sharp edges with light sanding. No changes in wheel profile, running surface or bearing surface are allowed. The axles must be exposed-no hub covers.

READY TO RACE - On race day, cars should be finished and ready to race-no wet paint or glue, no changes in weights.

On race day the cars will be inspected and held in a staging area until it is that Scout's turn to race. Scouts are not allowed in the staging area.P>

Cars will also be judged for appearance and a prize will be given for best looking car.
