Dear Son-in-law:

I received your letter a few days after Irene left for America, also your draft for 100 kronor, which I deposited in the Kalmar Bank in Vimmerby in Irene's name. I plan to deposit the same amount in Clarence's name.

Amanda and Irene left here on October 1st and I went with them to Vimmerby station where I with tears and concern saw them off on their journey. I beg of you to be kind and gentle to your children. Write and let me know how Irene got along on her trip. I gave Amanda 160 kronor to cover Irene's expenses.
