| After a shower and a short nap at our hotel, we hiked back to the station
to take the train up the river to the big(ger) town of Cochem. From
a distance we can see their restored castle on a hill overlooking the town,
but given the condition of our feet, we weren't even thinking of hiking
up there! |
|
| After some wandering, we find a restaurant overlooking the river, and
have a delightful dinner of schnitzel (and watch the neighboring restaurant
close at 6:30!). Skipping dessert for the moment, we wander along
the river, enjoying watching the locals enjoying the holiday (Pentecost). |
|
| We hop the train back to Moselkern, stopping to take some pictures
of a local cemetery with tiny manicured gardens at each gravesite.
Back at our hotel we have some dessert (strawberry shortcake and cream
and chocolate ice cream - yum!). Satisfied with such a good day with
sightseeing and exercise, we retire early again. |
