As with all of the last four shifts (where I was there at the start of the day) I started the day with a trip to St John and West shore hospital. I am told this is Just a coincidence.
The highlight of the day was the "jumper" on the washington avenue railroad bridge. He didn't jump... In fact it became apparent that he had no intent to die when it was noticed that if he were to jump from where he was standing he would have landed in mud just ten feet below.
Then when a train had passed over the very track he was standing on and there was no Bloody smudge on the front of it.
I surmised that he stepped on to the other track...
When another train passed on the other track without incident I found my self disappointed in this self-proclaimed "Suicidal person"
I was further dismayed to find out he had walked half a mile down the tracks and had not taken advantage of another opportunity to die.
He was on the west avenue railroad bridge but did not even threaten to jump...
Eventually he surrendered to the Police. We were Cleared from our "stand by" as were the three fire trucks, the water recovery team, and the dive team...
Not that I want people to die, but if you are going to cost a city this much hassle there should at least be a pay off of some kind! I mean damn dude...
Jump ! Then at the last second fall short of the ledge... ( Then I wont just bash you for being silly...)
Conrail traffic was only delayed for a couple of minutes... but I am sure this has thrown deliveries of life saving medication or supplies off schedule world wide!
We Later transported this pt. to C.P.I.
During the trip
He fell to sleep. or maybe he jumped to sleep.
that gave me an Idea. so I went to bed and I was jumped and assaulted by Sleep!
Good Night
