90% of a bass diet is sunfish so during the day (lunchtime) fish for small sunfish and use them for bait later on during the day. I've caught 5 pounders using this technique. make sure you use a strong leader, a 1/2oz. to 1oz. pyramid or cannonball sinker, and make sure it can slide on your line up and down. try using circle hooks for this rig, and make sure you hook the sunfish through the back or the mouth. give the sunfish plenty of slack (3 to 4 feet) and clip their spikes on their fins, they will then be rendered helpless to a hungry bass.
when casting try to fish mouths or openongs of streams that feed into a lake. also fish breakwaters, around docks and around bouys at a marina.
I reccomend for anyone 5 to 10 lb. test power pro line and a 1/4oz spinnerbait or a rubber worm carolina rigged to catch the most bass.
