Unfortunately, throughout history, there has not been an extensive record of women within a family. Have not been able to find anything on the net or in print concerning Salkeld Women. 1705~Colonial America Agness Salkeld ~ The History of the Salkeld Family in Pennsylvania by Jacob Painter 1867.{Click}

1737~Colonial America Elizabeth Salkeld, daughter of John Worrell (1656-1742) and Sarah Goodwin (1690-1755) who married John Salkeld Jr. (1709-1777) on January 13, 1731. Elizabeth Salkeld and her husband, John Salkeld, Jr, owned and operated the "Black Bear Inn", a tavern on 3rd and Penn Streets in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. It's license was granted in 1737.[Contr. 1819~Great Britain Mrs. Salkeld was patroness of St. Andrew's Church in Fontmell Magna, which is chiefly in the later English style.[Topographical Dictionary Vol.2, p 191]

1830s~Canada Martha Salkeld and her husband John arrive in Canada, and settle near the village of Goderich, Ontario.[Banks and Hunter]

1863~United States of America Sarah Salkeld accompanied her husband, George M. Salkeld, during the American Civil War (The War Between the States) and was a matron of a hospital for Union Soldiers in Tennessee.(Contr. by Ken Salkeld, Indiana, U.S.A.)

1925~Ireland Beatrice Salkeld, daughter of Cecil Ffrench Salkeld, painter, and Irma Taesler of Berlin, Germany. She was educated at Pembroke School, Loreto Convent, St.Stephen's Green, and the National College of Art and Design. She was born in December 1925, Mount Street, Dublin, Ireland. She studied painting in Italy and her work was exhibited at the RHA in the fifties. She worked as botanical assitant in the National Museum from 1949 to 1955, when she married Brendan Behan.She is survived by her daughter, Blanaid and son, Paudge. (Irelands Millennia)

1934~Great Britain Brenda Salkeld received a letter from George Orwell in which he wrote concerning James Joyce's "Ulysses"; "Ulysses...I rather wish I had never read it. It gives me an inferiority complex...."

1940~Great Britain Frances Mary Salkeld marries Captain Nigel Pumphrey, who was one of the most decorated officers in Coastal Forces during World War II.

1942~United States of America Grace Salkeld, was the wife of Maurice Raymond Salkeld, married Jan. 24, 1941, Miami, Florida. Born Troy, PA, Jan. 4, 1912, 1933 Graduate of Robert Paccker Hospital School of Nursing. Worked at New York Hospital, Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, FLA. She was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Nurse Corps, 165th General Hospital, European Theatre.
