Rest and Labour Home for Young Invalids

‘The Rest and Labour Home for Young Invalids’ provides accommodation and support for young people confined to crutches or to wheelchairs.

The residents are encouraged to learn a craft by the staff at the home, producing a pool of very talented craftspeople with highly marketable skills.

Sunhats under construction at the Home

We assist the residents of the home with the sale and marketing of their products, helping them to achieve their goal of self-sufficiency through their skill and craftmanship.

Recently, they received a large order from the Sangachal oil and gas terminal in Azerbaijan to make sunhats to be worn over standard safety helmets. These enable workers at the terminal to comply with Health and Safety policy, while also being protected from the strong Azeri sun. We have recently secured a similar order for sunhats to be worn by workers constructing the BTC oil pipeline, from Baku in Azerbaijan, through Georgia, to Ceyhan on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

The residents of the home receive a good wage for their work, and have also been able to buy 90 room heaters with the proceeds from these orders.
