Home for the Blind
In the leafy Baku suburb of Montin, the Home for the Blind (or "Kor Evi") sits in a quiet, residential neighbourhood.
The Home for the Blind, in Montin, Baku
The Home is typical of the projects we undertake in Baku, in that it has received little to no government investment over the last
several years, and so is suffering from the problems that such a lack of investment bring with it.
Our priority, as ever, was to make the biggest postive impact we could on the quality of life of the blind residents at
the home, given the funds available to us. As has often been the case, this meant an immediate focus on the sanitary facilities
at the home.
Showers at the Home for the Blind - before, and after
The photographs above show the improvement that we have been able to achieve - and we have also been able to achieve a
similar improvement in the conditions of the toilets at the Home. All of this has been made possible through generous donations
from the Irish Society, Kentech, and Messrs Patterson, Shaw, and Fraser through
funds raised from their support of football in Baku.
