(Of course this is when I jumped out of my chair so high I hit the ceiling, I was WAITING for this FOREVER) I'm kicking myself for not saving our very first conversation, which lasted from 10:00 p.m. on 6/3/01 to 4:30 a.m. on 6/4/01. I was amazed to find a guy so much like me.... although my heart dropped when he first told me his age, I thought "Wow, he's gonna think I'm too old for him" - but I came to find out that the age difference has never mattered with us. He's 28, I just turned 35. Being the smart-ass he is, of course I got the age jokes on my birthday. What a difference.... On my 34th birthday, my kids and my in-laws remembered me. My ex (who wasn't my ex at the time) didn't. On my 35th birthday, I was with Ron. We went to Red Lobster for dinner (1-1/2 hour drive to get there), did a little fun shopping, then went to my favorite bar for a few drinks. Et cetera. (this was actually 3 days before my birthday) On the actual day of my birthday, he got me a cake (which he ordered in advance), made sure all 3 kids were at the table with us, and gave me a real Black Hills Gold necklace. More importantly - he made a big deal out of my birthday and he was THERE. There are no words to describe how much that alone meant to me. |

| In less than a year, a life can change. One special person can make the entire difference for someone else. It's nice to be more financially secure now ... but what's truly important is that we are together as one. We talk about things. We resolve problems together. We don't fight. We are there for each other. When I have a problem, he listens. When I cry, he holds me. When I am angry he stays out of my way until I cool off - even though I have never been angry at him. He supports me in anything I want to do and takes a real interest in me. And I do all these things in return for him. He treats my kids as though they were his own. Sometimes I might neglect to tell him - but I think he's the most wonderful guy in the whole world and the most precious gift I have received since my children were born. |
