Cry
for Indonesia Team Report
What I was witness of during my stay for 7 days in Aceh
cannot be expressed by a short sentence through this mail.
The only word that came into my mind was:"TERRIBLE!!!"The
destruction included physical damage of the city: buildings, drifted lives,
people who succeeded in saving their life but almost completely suffered
from wounds or diseases and in a poor mental state.
The last development is now epidemic diseases:cholera, skins illness, typhus
and respiratory tract infections.
Our priority was to bring the medical team into:
1. Treating the patients/the casualties.
2. Give food and clothes
3. Help the casualties to get what is needed to be back to a
"normal" life.
All I've carried out during the first visit (03-01-05 until 10-01-05 ) was
to monitor the medical distribution for those who needed it.
But all of that was just only the beginning of a very
minor help for a disaster that is so HORRIFYING!!!!!
Further, medical help and food are the most required help that is very
urgent to the casualties and trough our "Cry for Indonesia".
The team will contribute continuously with medicines and
food.
In helping casualties of the TSUNAMI disaster in Aceh, "Cry for
Indonesia" program also supported by the local mass media
like the Medan Bisnis newspaper (www.medanbisnisonline.com)
this was very beneficial for updating the development that could
be monitored by us in our gaps of activity.
