| I am the wife of a trucker he's my knight of the road, The love is strong, the relationship a heavy load, I must remember to be strong, I know his work takes him over roads that are rough and long. Each day I rise to greet the day, Keep my trucker safe Lord, I pray, I dig deep inside me for strength and agility, To keep the home fire burning, I know I have the ability. I look at our children and know they are enjoying life, It's a struggle daily to give them a life without strife, They ask all the time why daddy can't be here, I tell them daddy is in our hearts, always near. My heart is torn between pride for my knight, And begging him to quit what he loves to be home at night, I know in his heart he longs to be here too, But trucking is in his blood, it's not just a job to do. Oh the joy I feel when after weeks away, My knight comes home to love me and with the children play, But the joy is short lived, he must leave tonight, tears I must fight, I whisper softly hurry back as my knight drives out of sight. copyright 2000 LM |
