Ask the Hens
This week's Mudhen is starting pitcher, Dan Hoffman.

Ask the Hens:  First off, I'd like to welcome you to the long and glorious tradition of Mudhens baseball.
Dan:  It's nice to be here, I was just glad to have the opportunity to play for a team with such a long and glorious history.  This was one of those opportunities you just can't pass up.
Ask the Hens:  Let's start with the questions, Dan.
Ask the Hens:  Growing up, what team in the CVBL did you root for?

Dan:  I've been a Mudhens fan for as long as I can remember, there was always something about the green and yellow that makes them fan favorities
Ask the Hens:  How would you describe your time with the Mudhens so far this season?
Dan:  Well, the team got off to a bit of a slow start but our play over the last couple of weeks has been steadily increasing and I'm looking forward to a strong playoff showing later in the season.
Ask the Hens:  Who on the Mudhens has had the biggest influence on you so far?
Dan:  Well, I'd have to say my greatest influence so far would have to be longtime Mudhen, and Plattsburgh State University ace, Mike Bergman.  If not for Mike I would not even be in the league, and it's always nice to have his solid glove and moral support out there as well.
Ask the Hens:  Discuss the adjustment of coming over to the Mudhens as compared to playing in Long Island.
Dan:  Many people would say "Baseball is baseball.  You hit the ball, you catch the ball, you throw the ball."  I'm one of those people, I just try and go out there everytime and give the team a chance to win, because lets face it, that's what this game is all about, the wins and loses.
Ask the Hens:  Last season, the Mudhens exited the playoffs in only the first round.  Some say this may have had to do with the younger players on the team being inexperienced in the playoffs.  What will you do to avoid runing into the same problem?  What should we expect to see from you and the rest of the Hens?
Dan:  As i said before we have really been coming on strong as of late and have many young, strong arms and good bats as well that should give us a legitimate shot when the playoffs come around.  As far as the inexperienced playoffs we have many long time Mudhens that should be able to help the young players succeed in the tough competition of the CVBL.

Thank you very much for participating in Ask the Hens.  Good luck the rest of this season and go Hens!
Dan:  Always a pleasure, I look forward to seeing everyone at the games on Sundays.  The schedule can be found on the website and Lefty Wilson field is only minutes away from downtown Plattsburgh.
