Battered Love

For years we have been neighbors
Separated only by a thin wall
I don't think I've ever met a more special woman
Caring, giving, compassionate
But every night I hear the fights
And every day I see the evidence
Painted with viciousness upon your beautiful face
How someone so cruel could ever earn your love is beyond
  me
And why you stay with him, I'll never understand
You never ask for my help, though I would gladly give it
I yearn for the day when you run to my open arms
I would cherish you, and protect you
I would lay the world at your feet
I would treat you as the precious gift that you are
You owe him nothing; come to me, and be my world
And no one will ever hurt you again

Her Hero

I mind my own business
I don't rock the boat
I follow directions
I function by rote
I always endeavor
To stay out of sight
But I have to speak up
For this is not right
You're taking advantage
Of your position
And trying to force her
Into submission
I won't stand by and watch
And do not a thing
While you force her into
A wild office fling
Sure, you can fire me
Just go right ahead
But I'll go down swinging
So maybe, instead
You should reconsider
What you have to lose
And what will your boss think
When he gets the news
I will go straight to him
I promise you that
Why don't you back off now
That we've had this chat
You glare daggers at me
As you leave the room
But you take out with you
The feeling of gloom
Now everyone's looking
At me in surprise
They never expected
To see me defy
The boss so fearlessly
And the truth be told
I didn't know I could
Really be that bold
But I look down at you
And I have no doubt
That I'd do it again
If that filthy lout
Doesn't leave it at this
And leave you alone
Yes, I will protect you
You're not on your own
You smile at me sweetly
And my heart just melts
Then you give me your thanks
Your number, as well
And I'm glad that I stood
Up in your defense
This could be the start of
A lasting romance

You Can't Go Back

This isn't how you planned it
I wasn't supposed to know
I found out by accident
Now you have nowhere to go
You can't hide it anymore
Can't play the innocent now
You're guilty, and I know it
And it doesn't matter how
I will not hear excuses
None could possibly suffice
You've broken our sacred vows
And you cannot make it right
There is nothing you can say
That will undo what you've done
You can't go back and change it
There's nowhere for you to run
And I refuse to pretend
That I am okay with this
For you destroyed all my trust
With your first illicit kiss
Go away, leave me aolne
I want you gone from my life
It's over, done; we're finished
I'll no longer be your wife
