| Love's Dirge I look at you Across the way And wonder how We reached this day Full of anger At loggerheads The love we felt Completely dead As your lawyer Argues with mine My mind goes back A bit in time To when we were So much in love Happy, content And so sure of The love we had We knew it'd last So how did things Go bad so fast We passed the point At which we could Repair the hurt Love died for good And now we're here The court decides Who should get what Opposing sides Of council state Their layed out plan For division Each sure they can Get the most for Us, their clients Going at it Like mad giants While you and I Try not to look At each other Or give in to The urge to speak To shout, to rant To reunite Because we can't The love is gone But memories Can make it seem That it still breathes But it is dead And we are through And our parting Is long past due copyright 5/27/2001 Terri Lyn Stanfield All Rights Reserved |
| I Don't Like Spiders In the land of creepy crawlies The spider reigns supreme At just the sight of one them One feels the urge to scream So sneaky, and so agile, too They lurk there in the dark Waiting for some poor innocent To hit their pre-planned mark And then they pounce with wicked glee Upon their poor victim Who goes down like a ton of bricks Just like a horse'd kicked em Screaming, flailing, acting insane Defeated by a bug While in the throes of phobia It crawls onto the rug When someone comes to see what's wrong You're looking like a fool You hurriedly jump to your feet And try hard to look cool You say that it was a spider Far bigger than your hand It's fangs were at least an inch long But, no, you hadn't ran You'd stayed and fought the nasty beast Too bad it got away Alas, just then the thing appears Belying all you say It's not as big as a quarter Harmless looking indeed Still, you take great satisfaction Crushing it with your feet You walk away feeling just fine You've won the spider war Until the next battle comes round But then, who's keeping score copyright 5/28/2001 Terri Lyn Stanfield All Rights Reserved |
