The Poems of
Terri Lyn Stanfield
My Rendesvous

Once every day
I set aside
A space of time
To take a ride
Through memories
And things wished for
Through fantasies
Where nothing's barred
A time for me
And no one else
When I indulge
And spoil myself
I just kick back
And tune into
My inner self
And follow through
With what I find
When I explore
My subconscious
Then I ignore
Everything else
That seeks my time
And drift away
To worlds sublime
Where I am queen
Or maybe not
Or it could be
Some gorgeous spot
Around the world
The warm tropics
The freezing alps
There's no stopping
My mind when it
Takes off unbound
Where wild dreams or
Treasures are found
And every day
For just a while
I give it rein
And I'm beguiled
By the places
It takes me to
And all the things
It lets me do
And when my time
Comes to an end
I come back to
Real life again
Feeling refreshed
And ready to
Resume my day
And carry through
Until next time
When I'll escape
For just a while
Just for my sake

Trouble

I saw you coming from a mile away
I should have run, but decided to stay
I could tell from looking, you were bad news
You had trouble written all over you
But you had a charm I couldn't deny
And a spark of mischief there in your eye
You knew you were hot, and you played it well
Certain that I would fall under your spell
So I let you think that I'd fallen prey
To your good looks, and let you have your way
But in the end, it was you who was caught
After the battle of our hearts was fought
You may be good, but I am the master
And I always get the man I'm after

Feral Heart

The sky is darkened
The wind blows strong
The air is pregnant
It won't be long
Before the heavens
Open their gates
And the deluge starts
So I await
I love a wild storm
It just thrills me
It makes my blood sing
Wildness fills me
Primal and basic
Full of passion
And barely restrained
Seeking action
The need for release
Almost too much
Likely to explode
At just one touch
As the storm begins
My morphing starts
Turning me into
A feral heart
