The Poems Of
Terri Lyn Stanfield
Eternally Inseparable

You stay there, at the edge of my consciousness
When I reach out to you, you fade away
Yet when I busy myself with other things
You are there, overshadowing every thought

I see your face clearly in my dreams every night
But during my waking hours, you're only a vague silhouette
As I sleep, I hear you speak with the voice of an angel
And the echoes of your words reverberate inside my head

I know the day will come when I will look up...and into your eyes
For we are surely destined to meet, for the first time, once again
To share this life as we have shared countless others
For it is not dreams that I have at night...but memories

Memories of the lives we have shared in centuries past
Of love that has never waned, though the relationships may have differed
We've been lovers, friends, parent and child
Yet always together, inseparable through the passage of time

So I wait...knowing not the day, but certain of the outcome
One day we'll meet and my dreams will become reality once more
And we will walk hand in hand through this life, sharing laughter and love
Knowing, without question, it is but one more chapter in our neverending
story

Worth Waiting For

Waiting and watching
Biding my time
I will be patient
Until you're mine
Though youre not ready
For love right now
Someday you will be
And I will bow
On my bended knee
And offer you
My heart forever
I promise to
Be ever faithful
And never leave
If you will just spend
Your life with me

A Walk In The Park

On a beautiful spring day, we walk in the park
Holding hands, and basking in the love we share
Enjoying the beauty of the day, and the warmth of the sun
Reminiscing about times past and old friends
Completely comfortable in each others company
As we have been for so many years
Thankful for a love that has endured and grown
Certain that it will last forever, and exulting in that knowledge
Glorying in it each and every day
Both of us realizing how lucky we are to have it
The precious gift of true love that is ours

Am I Worth It?

I wanted to believe all you said
But too many times I have been led
Down the long, lonely path to heartbreak
And left with nothing but a deep heartache
My heart has been too often battered
For sweet, flowery words to matter
Though you may be completely sincere
You will have to overcome my fear
If you do that, you will prove yourself
How hard you're willing to work will tell
I am not easy in any way
Your work's cut out for you if you stay
Now you know what you're getting in for
It's up to you, cause that's what's in store
