HOTSPOT:
CP-MILWAUKEE Jct.
      DETROIT MICHIGAN

closed February 25, 2000, Milwaukee junction is still a hotspot for railfans   from everywhere!
CSXT (Conrail 8757) on train Q304,  passes by CONRAIL MILWAUKEE Jct. tower in Detroit MI. The tower was open at this time, in the summer of '99. Only a few months after the NS and CSX split. In fact, this pic was taken so early into the "acquisistion" that the dispatcher for the Shared assets was the NS Dearborn Disp. operating out of Dearborn Michigan's office building, rather than the Conrail from  New Jersey. That was to come, however, in just a few weeks!

Now controlled by Conrail's Detroit Dispatcher, Milwaukee Jct. is located on Clay avenue in Detroit Michigan, Milwaukee Jct. has a lot of trackage running through it, meaning a lot of railfanning to be done!! I only recommend going there during daylight hours, because like the rest of Detroit, Milwaukee Jct. is located in a ghetto. The only protection from anything and everything there is what you provide! But during the day, it is fairly safe. At Milwaukee Junction, the Grand Trunk has most of the trackage: The Shoreline Subdivision breaks in two, here into the Holly and Mt-Clemens subdivisions. Conrail has their North Yard Branch running north and south. Maps and directions are at bottom of page.
