Detroit, Michigan is the largest city in Michigan with aver 1 million people (and falling) within its city limits. Detroit is a town that I would not reccomend going to without some sort of protection, and avoid at all costs upon night fall. An engineer, if he had not shut his window on the loco, would have been shot in the head a few months ago by some idiot starting trouble. If I were in the area, I would be bustin' my hump to get outta there!!
      But, Detroit does have some decent photo hotspots, which I would go to, keeping in mind what is written above, during daylight hours only!! The first is at the railroad crossing  on Dearborn ave, in Delray (Detroit), where Conrail, CSX, NS, and GTW all cross, or connect. All of the BIG Michigan railroads converging at one spot. (maps at bottom of the page). There is a tower, Delray tower, here, and cops usually lurk about at all hours waiting for a crime to be commited (namely shootings). The junction sees uncountable numbers of trains on all railroads. Detroit is a hub of rail yards as well, with Conrail having River Rouge yard 2 miles south, and Livernois yard about3 miles north; CSX having Rougemere yard West, and a yard by the Detroit river docks; NS having a few yards Southwest, and GTW having No yards at the location.
