This page was created to share our experiences since the birth of our 2nd daughter, Cameron Leigh. Cameron was born November 10, 1997 with Down syndrome, as well as a Congenital Heart Defect known as Atrioventricular Septal Defect (aka AV Canal). But she and her sisters, Courtney, Cassidie and Cydney are a true blessing to our family!!
In addition to the many trips to her Pediatric Cardiologist, Dr. Bilal Harake, she also began receiving Physical Therapy twice a week at home. We are so thankful to be living in the times we are, not only because of the advances in medicine, but also the advancement with developmental disabilities. We have learned from Cameron's birth, the earlier the intervention with these babies, the better their chances are to live a normal life.
We learned a lot that first year, and we continue to learn more each day. We are looking forward to what lies ahead for us!
It is important for me to give credit, where credit is due. We had a tremendous amount of people praying for Cameron not only the day of her open heart surgery, but since her birth. I truly believe that heaven was bombarded with prayer on Monday, April 27, 1998. Everything that happened during that week, made me realize that God was watching over, not only Cameron, but her parents as well. Looking back on the whole experience, I know that He was with us. We have been blessed!!
