Once things start getting put on tape, you'll be able to check out all the high drama, conflict, bloodshed,
and creative frustration right here on this page. These are the songs -- in various stages of
development -- I have planned to record. I'll be adding song
descriptions and progress updates after each song title as we move
along. The plan is record as many of these as possible and select/vote
for which ones make the cut. A solo version will be on the RBMC's
compilation CD. It's a sweet little ballad about
a lover who comes back to the person they dumped to cry about the new
person they're with (email me for help sorting the pronouns). Nearly
done.
"Psychic Girlfriend" Lying in a relationship, as a good thing. Most tracks completed, looking for some bigger background vocals.
"Dreamtime" A serious metaphoric song about
protecting my kids from the outside world. It's finished, but I'd like
to redo the track on a real acoustic piano to make it more organic.
We'll see.
"I Wish" A very different kind of Three
Wishes. Feels a little like a Death Cab tune if Ben Gibbard had thrown
away his anti-depressants. Needs some new guitar.
"Tempus Fugitive" Three answers to the question, "where the hell did the time go?" See my blog about it -- still tooling with the overall sound.
"Everything's Different" The cycle of a relationship from
bliss to suicidal tendancies. Not the most positive thing I've ever
written. Working on a rewrite now.
"The Best We Can Do" A duet á la Kid Rock and
Sheryle Crow's "Picture" (though I'm hoping less annoyng) about two
people find a relationship by lowering their expectations. Starting
basic tracks, but I'm looking for a good female lead willing to sing
it.
"Just Another Day (Just Go On)" A case for optimism on the worst
possible day ever. (Or, blind/ignorant faith among the more cynical of
you.) Undergoing a lyric change to make it a little less Weird Al-esque.
"Functional" Older holdout song from Exit 82
about a person upset they have no dysfunctions to get famous or avoid
having to work for a living. The old version got destroyed a while back
so I'm rewriting it for a new take soon.
"Peace Talks (Giving Up and Getting Out)" A couple agrees to breakup
before they kill each other. This is the song that was supposed to be
on the S.I.T. album, but never made it (neither did the band, for that
matter). I'm going to rewrite the collaborated version and finally
record it.
"Welcome to Earth" "Hey Jude" for space aliens. This
one's going to take some time, because of all the extra tracks I'm
adding (see blog, and be part of it too).
"I'm Not Angry" Ah, denial. More, as they say, than just a river in Egypt.
Still working on just the right sound for this one.
"Our Apology" An open letter to God apologizing
for screwing up his planet. I've talked to some local string players
about some non-synth orchestral touches on this one. More to come.
(misc/pending) "What Was I Thinking?" "Heard It All Before" "Vanishing Act" "Waiting For The End Of The World" "My Lady In White" "Resist" "When Forever's Over" "You Owe Me" "So This Is Growing Up" |
