Conservation & Wildlife Management
Conservation Program:
The CRP program is a federal program, which allows landowners to set aside portions of their land rather than plant crops. It is basically a soil conservation/wildlife habitat program. The landowners are required to seed the ground into what is commonly called warm season and prairie grasses. This includes such things as Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, Lespedesia, Indiangrass, Sideoats Gramma, Switchgrass, etc. The purpose is to enhance the environment and provide cover and nutrition for deer, birds, etc. For me personally, it is a great program since I do not rely on farming as my occupation. Thus, it is a win-win for the hunters since I can provide an attraction for the deer & birds plus provides optimum conditions for all hunters.

Wildlife Management Program: The property is a participant in the Illinois Wildlife Habitat Management program in conjunction with the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources. As such, the property is overseen by an Illinois Biologist, with the emphasis on maintaining the quality & quantity of deer, turkey and birds.
