Rylee's going away party. Sometime just before school ends. This show is dedicated to the big guy who is moving to Alabama. That sucks. Oh well it should be one hell of a party, if you are invited. Hah! Just messing.

Normstok Ty Keyes Backyard Sometime this summer. This will be the greatest concert since Woodstock. No shitty bands here. It's gonna be like 10 dollars a ticket, for the two or three day affair. 20 dollars for backstage action. There is gonna be a huge bonfire and stuff too. We are going for serious bands here. Ty's favorites such as Simple Plan... although I doubt they would come. Heh. Reguradless, we will probably be playing at this kickass show.

"McCormick Idol" Talent Show-May 7th, 2003 This was our first true show, expectations were huge. There were probably 250-300 people at the day show, 100-150 at the night show. The day show was the competition. The first act, a band of 7th graders called "4 Mile," was absolutely horrible. They tried playing "All Along the Watchtower" with: A bassist, a drummer, a keyboardest, and a singer. It was horrible. No guitar! 1.) The singer couldn't sing, 2.) The drums were rediculusly easy, 3.) They basically stood around and did nothing, 4.) Their "jumps" were wussy and horrible, and 5.) When their lead singer tried swinging the mic, he loosened it up really bad and left it for me really shitty. After they were done, Kristen Black sang a song. It was pretty good; she has a really good voice. After several medicore acts consisting of a Jesus freak paino player, some fatasses trying to sing R&B, doing a horrible job, and some really ugly people trying sing that "That's What Girls Do" song, the few good acts began. There were these two 7th graders who did Irish stepdancing. They went for about 5 minutes, but weren't even penilized for it! (The limit was supposed to be 3 minutes) They were good though, doing like perfectly coriagraphed (sp.) dances. It didn't look that hard. After her, this really flexible chick did this dance to a Van Halen song. She like played butt guitar, it was weird. It wasn't great, but she was mad-flexible. It was nuts, she could have done the splits in her sleep. It made me happy I'm not flexible. As she started dancing, we went backstage to get ready. After her, it was the final two acts. Bobby Phillips, a 9th grader, played the song "Scuttlebutton" on his guitar. It was sweet. He is good at guitar. It sounded sweet, and he had to play in front of the curtain, while we set up behind it. While he was playing, the butterflies in our stomaches were absolutely going nuts. It was like the butterflies were on ginsing or something. It was out of control. When Bobby got done, the crowd went wild. It put alot of pressure on us to top him. Dirk bought us alot of time though, because inbetween Bobby's and our acts, he went out and entertained the crowd for a while. It was awesome. While he was doing it, the crowd knew we were coming up because they could hear Dominic's amp's flanger behind the curtain. As soon as Ian Melchoir announced us, the crowd went crazy, and Dominic started playing too early, killing all chances of a mic check. It turned out that the kid from "4 Mile" loosened up the mic so much when he swung it that it wasn't picking up sound. We didn't know this and Dominic was playing our intro to our song "Days of Old". After his sweet intro thing was up, he ran over to turn off the flanger, but missed the knob and didn't turn it all the way off. I ran over there to turn it off and had to hurry back to the mic to start singing in time. When I started singing, the mic didn't pick up, so no one could hear the first 10 or 15 seconds. When we hit the chorus, though, the mic started picking up. I did my screaming part at the end of the chorus and got a big pop from the crowd. They stood up and gave us the "Rock On" sign. While Dominic and Danny did their guitar solos, I tried to swing the mic. The whole damn thing was so loose from the "4 Mile" kid that it came flying off. I had to run over and get it and screw it back on. Miraculously, it worked better than it did before, because I tightened it and it was picking up sound. We sang the second verse, then the chorus. The crowd jumped around when I did the screaming part again. Then Tim hit his huge drum solo; it was awesome... until his stick went flying out of his hands. We slowed down, hit the chorus the final time, and then we just went crazy. Dominic started playing his amazing "Jimi Hendrix-Like" guitar solo and Danny ripped his shirt in half and threw it into the crowd. Meanwhile, Dominic went down on his knees during the solo and the crowd erupted. It went even louder when we finished the song and I jumped off the stage. It was awesome. People were trying to touch me, hug me, etc. Then Shawn did his cool bass-jump, and everyone went crazy. They were all on their feet for about a minute after we played. It then calmed down for the post-show entertainment, which Ian was about to announce, when we walked out. The crowd jumped to their feet again, giving us a five minute applause. Tim threw his shirt into the crowd, people were hugging us, etc. After the post-show, the so-called "judge's results" were in. We all gathered on stage and awaited the results. Caroline White read them, "Third place and $15 goes to dancer chick, second place and $20 goes to Bobby Phillips." Then she paused for drama. We were all psyched up because we thought that this ment we had won. She started again, "And first place goes to...," pausing for more suspence. While she paused, Ryan Hazaphael (A.K.A. Jew Dogg) yelled out "CROSSTOWN RIVALS!" and the crowd went nuts again, knowing that we were about to win first. They were ready to explode, when Caroline spoke again. "First place and $25 (HOOOOOLY SHIT, WHAT A CRAPPY PRIZE) goes to the Irish Dancers." The crowd was stunned and almost no one even cheered. People started yelling that we got screwed, etc. If there had only been a "People's Choice Award" like in years past, we would have won. It was a bunch of shit. Reguardless, we got the biggest prize, the crowd's respect. Everyone left the auditorium buzzing about "The Crosstown Rivals" and it was a cool feeling knowing that we had put on an awesome show for them.
