Past Meetings Summary

The girls met for our End of Summer Skating Party at the Arlington Skatium.  We enjoyed skating and having a pizza party, which was a lot of fun.  We also celebrated Amanda Moores Birthday.

Our first meeting was at the Kennedale City Park where we planned, discussed and practiced our Bridging and Re-dedication ceremony.  We covered different types of Troop Government and decided on what positions the girls would like to have. The girls also enjoyed some free time playing on the play ground.  We celebrated Charlotte Jenkins Birthday.

August 27th we had our Bridging/Re-dedication ceremony and enjoyed visiting with each other.  We enjoyed some cake, snacks and drinks.  The girls had free time playing on the playground and walking around the pond.

At our Sept 13th meeting we discussed our Troop Government (for a list of the girls positions, please see the Group website under files) what Service Projects the girls would like to participate in (We are working on sponsoring a girl in our community that is a Hurricane Katrina Evacuee to join our troop), and what badges the girls would like to earn this year (Some of the badges are: Horse fan, jewelry maker, hiker, wildlife) The girls also expressed what type of activities they are interested in doing. (Archery and Camping).  The Troop was invited to celebrate Meagan and Kims birthday at the YMCA for a Swimming/Luau Party.

At our meeting on September 27th we completed the Stress Less badge which the girls really enjoyed.  They decorated stress less boxes to hold items that they could use when they are feeling stressed.  The girls discussed some of the different things that they could add to their box.  Some of the ideas the girls came up with were: pictures of dad, letter from friend, stress ball, and favorite book.  The girls each received a journal and we discussed how writing their feelings can sometimes help to relieve stress. We listened to a relaxation CD and discussed how different types of music can help relieve stress.  The girls were given pamphlets on simple non-strenuous exercises to help relieve stress and we sampled a few of the exercises listed in the pamphlet.
