*Water: Each standing body of water provides a portal through which a Water shade may be summoned. Usually when incarnated, it is of a gentle, even-handed, levelheaded, and kind disposition. May cause some confusion amongst the intellectually challenged, depending on the size of the body of water from whence it came. They may appear as a female with slightly blue-tinged skin and long blue hair with almond shaped, sapphire eyes. Ears are delicately pointed and the face has a gentle point and their eyes have a serene feeling. They are diametrically opposed to all things the Fire shades stand for. Can create a spray or jet of water with the point of a finger, and in total control of any nearby liquid, water or otherwise. *Air: These shades are omnipresent for air is everywhere, and can be summoned at any time. Usually when incarnated, they are of an aloof and fun-loving personality, and especially fond of doing nothing unless they want to. Unfortunately, they can be extremely egotistical and easily distracted. May cause annoyance or happiness amongst those around them depending on the force of wind from whence they came. They may appear as an ivory skinned male or female with greenish hair and almond shaped emerald eyes. Ears are delicately pointed and the face is slanted with a boisterous or jovial feel. They are diametrically opposed to everything Earth shades stand for. Can create a breeze or wind with any bodily movement, and can manipulate the surrounding air. *Earth: These shades are omnipresent for earth is everywhere, and can be summoned at any time. Usually when incarnated, they are of an inflexible and stubborn nature, and especially fond of following the old and structured ways. Can be ornery and difficult to get along with, depending on the size of the boulder or flat ground from whence they came. May appear as a brown or dark-skinned male or female with black or brown sugar colored hair and hard, earth brown eyes. Ears are delicately pointed and the slim face has a stern or unbending feel. They are diametrically opposed to everything Air shades stand for. Can control surrounding terra or rocks, no matter the size. *Sleight, or King Shade: There is only one Sleight shade. This shade can take the form of anything it wants, and is incarnated, though it may become any of the four elements for travel purposes. The Sleight shade is called the King Shade for there is only one and can control all of the elements at will. Every century, a big celebration is held as the old King passes, and is reborn as a youngling. At this time, he is placed on a planet to grow and become familiar with its ways, with no memory of any of its previous lives, or how special he truly is. After he has reached maturity, all of his memories return and he passes judgment on the planet. If he deems it worthy, it will remain as it is. If not, all shades are extradited and the world is left without any sort of guardian, other than those native. Character Description: Name: Tanis Erichon Gender: Male Eye Color: Grey Hair Color/Style: Medium length white hair Age: 22 (Crimson years) Height: 6'3 Weight: 220 lbs. Aura Color: bright crimson Clothing and Other Physical Features: Though his first impression is one of a depressed nature, it is merely the way his face is constructed. His lips, when in a grin, will usually part in a dazzlingly bright, friendly smile, and his ears have a very slight, gentle point. He has black jacket that does little to mask his size and is fitted with small platelets of black armor along his arms. His tall, muscular body boasts little of his actual strength, and his well-muscled arms and legs help in the harshest of terrain and weather. His legs are covered in loosely fitting black pants, and his shoes are light sandals. He also has a pair of white traveling pants that fit only a little too long down the leg, as well as a sleeveless black shirt he uses while at rest. Specialty: Control of the elements, and a strange influence over the race of creatures called shades. Personality: He is very quiet, yet everyone seems to like him. He has no quips with those in a mind for justice and a sense of peace. He has a good sense of humor, and no lie is ever lost on him. Character Background/History: Being as he has no memory of anything more than his current incarnation, this starts there. A local farmer found him in the nearby woods, though where he isn't sure and for reasons soon to be explained. Raising Tanis as his own, Tanis learned to live a good and honest life of hard work and truth, always under the watchful eye of his adoptive father. He always suspected that his father wasn't his birth father, crystal clear by the unease with which his father talked with him. At the age of twelve, his foster parent revealed to him the truth, which didn't come as too big a shock. During one of his frequent trips into the woods for self-reflection, he became alarmingly aware of all things going on around him. The wind seemed to speak, the earth hummed, the water sang, and the fire consuming his home laughed. Rushing home, it was already engulfed in flames, too late to do any good. With an anguished cry for his father, he raised his fists in desperation, and the river behind him sent twin tentacles of water towards the house, quenching the inferno in a mater of moments. Searching through the wreckage, his father's remains were unscarred for he had died of smoke inhalation, under the shelter of a wet tablecloth and a sturdy table. He felt as if he were seeing the events unfold as if through another's eyes, while creating a grave with a wave of his hands, placing his father to rest. Five days later, he was wandering the streets of the nearby village, noticing nothing around him. Dead to the world, his desolation and depression reached no end, until he met Thira , a local girl who had heard of the tragedy. She gave him food and drink, and he was touched by her kindness, taking an immediate liking to her. A few hours after their first meeting, Thira 's mother had been thoroughly convinced of Tanis 's need for a place to stay and offered the spare room. Weeks passed under the sun and his relationship with Thira grew until they were like siblings. They spent most of every day together, playing and exploring the surrounding forest. As the years progressed, Tanis became increasingly aware of her presence, how truly different they were. She seemed more and more feminine as time passed, while he grew in size and strength, wrestling with the town's boys for fun. One night, they were returning from a particularly exhausting excursion into the woods, when Thira stopped him with a gentle hand. She asked him if they could be more than simple friends. When their faces were almost close enough to touch, the scent of smoke reached their noses. Startled, they followed it until they reached their home, and found it a raging inferno. Old terrors and memories flooded back to Tanis , his mind almost unable to take it all in. In a similar fashion to the previous fit, he extinguished the fires with water from a nearby well. Thankfully, Thira 's parents were unharmed, but something inside Tanis had been awakened. The old questions of who he was and why he did the things he was capable of resurfaced once more. They began to take longer trips into the woods, and each day, Tanis grew more aware of his budding strengths. The wind spoke even louder, though unintelligible. The water laughed with unrestrained mirth, though the joke was lost on him. Dreams of far away places entered his mind, and he felt an ever-increasing urge to feel the world. Thira never fully understood, but she did know what the right thing to do was. Three days of soul-searching led Tanis to the conclusion that he needed to search all of Crimson until he could discover who he truly was; where his strange powers had come from, and what his true calling required of him. He left his second home with a parting kiss from Thira , and the promise of a swift return. That was ten years ago. During his travels, he has learned to master his abilities, and discovered the strange people who call themselves "shades." He searches now for a way to a home long forgotten, and to return the favors the world has given him. Documented Abilities: Shade array: this ability allows Tanis to summon the strange creatures that call themselves "shades." Maximum summoned at a time: 4. This is altered by how many shades are utilized in Manifest Armament. Elemental Tempering: this ability allows Tanis to imbue tangible weapons or armor with elemental properties, though the effect varies with each case, and requires a shade of the required element. One provision to this ability is the Elemental Elite of any of the four elements cannot fuse with another element, only with Tanis . Manifest Armament: This ability allows Tanis to change a shade into a piece of armor that uses that specific element as a weapon and bit of protection. Here are the four forms they can take: -Fire: Blastfurnace: A ruby red gauntlet that forms over Tanis s right forearm, which allows him to launch either fireballs, or a stream of fire.
