| Betsy's first apperance was in the UK series Captain Britain, issue #8. Betsy was born the twin sister of Brian Braddock aka Captain Britain. Betsy was considered Britain's most beautiful woman as a model, but she was secretly leading a double life as an agent for S.T.R.I.K.E.'s psi-division. When Brian stepped down as Captain Britain, Betsy was encouraged to take up the mantle. Her tenure as Captain Britain was a short one, after being brutally beaten by Slaymaster (a nemesis of Brian's) and left permanently blind. Betsy decided to recuperate in Switzerland, only to find herself kidnapped by Mojo and Spiral. Mojo implanted Betsy with bionic eyes which restored her sight and he dubbed her "Psylocke". Fortunately for her, Xavier's team of New Mutants rescued her soon after. She was given permission to stay at Xavier's institute and proved herself when she diverted an attack by Sabretooth on the mansion. Betsy was accepted and joined the team of X-Men as Psylocke, under Storm's lead. |

| During that time Psylocke realized her dream was to protect those she loved. Psylocke was highly aware of how vunerable she was on the battlefield so her choice in costume took a radical change. She began to wear a suit of armor with cape for her costume. While on a mission Psylocke was kidnaped by the Mandarin. Her mind was transferred into the body of an Asian assassin named Kwannon and vice versa, from then on Asian Psylocke was born. (Psylocke gained her ninja fighting skills and the ability to create a "psychic knife" thanks to the Hand) The Mandarin had Psylocke as their assassin. They planned on doing the same to Wolverine, but instead they failed and Psylocke's mind was freed in the process. She returned to the X-Men and soon had to gain their trust all over again... Kwannon now in Psylocke's British body sought her out at Xavier's. Claiming she was the real Betsy Braddock and Psylocke an imposter. Kwannon was unknowingly wrong, her psyche was fused with Betsy's. Betsy and Kwannon shared their memories together. Kwannon had contracted the legacy virus and was slowly dying. During that time her mind was set correctly and gained all her rightful memories. She realized she was indeed Kwannon and not Betsy Braddock. She begged her lover Matsuo not to let her die of the virus and handed him a blade... With Kwannon dead Psylocke is forever trapped in Kwannon's Asian body. |
