HARRY POTTER QUILT BLOCKS

Here are some of the blocks I am making for a Harry Potter quilt for my son Peter. A Jane in the US was very generous and gave me leftovers from her quilt making and some patterns. Others I have found. This block is of Aldous Dumbledore the Principal of Hogwaarts. The background is a soft tie died smoky blue cotton. It is much lighter than the scanner has copied it. Poor old Aldous looks like he has a bad skin disease. I can assure you he looks a lot healthier in real life!

Here is Fluffy and yes it was bloody hard to make. Can't remember HOW long it took but a good number of hours. I spent a vast amount of time cursing as I stitched usually with evil thoughts such as..."I wonder if Peter would notice if the dog only had two heads..." "Is it really necessary to have the slavering tounges and fangs" and "If I ever meet J K Rowling in a dark alley watch out... I'll give her three headed dogs!" I am quite happy now that it is finished. Despite the picture it does work and will be more defined once quilted.

Harry's Wand. This I unashamedly lifted from the About.com site that had some blocks that people had made for a swap. Being artistically challenged in the design stakes as far as drawing etc I depend on my designs usually from colouring books or pictures that I can trace over and adapt. This was a nice calming block to make after some of the complex ones. If you go to the next page.... you will see what I mean!
