A true mix of new and old is found in South Korea.
Seoul

Arrive
I flew Korean Air from Auckland to Seoul. The international airport is Seoul Incheon which is quite a long way away from the city (one hour bus trip). You can get a bus direct into the centre of the city from the airport relatively cheaply.Blah blah

Explore
JSA -The Joint Security Area is the demilitarised zone between South and North Korea. You can go on an organised tour of the JSA with the US Army.
Gyeongbokgung - Gyeongbokgung Palace is amazing. It was really hot when we visited. They have free tour guides that are very good.
Mt Namsan -The climb up Mt Namsan was very sticky in the humidity. However the view of Seoul from the top is well worthwhile. The trip up Seoul Tower gives a full 360 degree view.

War Memorial & Museum -There is plenty of hardware to look at and well displayed stuff.
Rest
We stayed with a cousin so accommodation was sorted. However, from what I've heard it can be expensive so watch out.
