Joyful Tears
Written by: Cricket
As I wait
Eagerness overflowing
I watch others
Love outpouring
My grandmother died
When I was a girl
Today she comes back
My minds a whirl
So much to tell her
So much she missed
I cannot wait
Til her cheek I've kissed
It's my turn, I'm told
Standing, I follow
What will I say?
I suddenly feel hollow
A young woman sits
I blink and stare
Is that my grandmother,
with long flowing hair?
I remember a picture
from years past
of a young woman
whose face I see at last
I give her a hug
telling her my name
she hugs back fiercly
asking if it is a game
I assure her its real
now rested, our fears
So much to talk about
all through joyful tears.
