Convenience functions

Auto columns are column guides that are put in place when you specify the number of columns and the space between them.

Auto re-sizing of graphics is where graphic images are automatically sized to fit a pre-defined space.

Automatic kerning can be done by the software from an inbuilt list of letter combinations that need to be kerned.

Cut and paste between documents can be done quickly if the software allows more than one document to be opened at a time.

Edit mode makes the creation and editing of text easier.

Force justify will spread the selected text out to fill the defined space by uniformly increasing the spacing between letters.

Help can be context sensitive, tutorial or demonstration.

Multiple paste allows duplication of selected objects by specifying the number of copies and position on page.

Non-printing guides are essential for accurate placement.

Open multiple documents allows easy switching between documents.

Paragraph style, templates and master pages saves the user from starting from scratch for each document.

Textflow allows text to be 'pored' into a predefined area.

Thumbnails are miniature versions of the DTP pages used so that you can see an overview.

Undo and revert are options that allow the user to reverse changes. Experimentation is less hazardous.

Zoom views allow detail or overview pagework to be done.
