INFORMATION
The dissemination of information
by newspapers, magazines, newsletters, bulletins etc is made easier with DTP.
The target audience can often
determine whether the article needs to be attractive. A newsletter from the
school is often a statement of fact. If people need to know then they will read
the publication. A letter home requesting assistance at the school needs to
sell itself more as it may not be read.
Consistency of appearance needs
to be used so that it is visually obvious where the publication originates.
This could simply be a logo or a heading. This heading is called a masthead eg Crestwood High School
Newsletter. The same font and proportionate style should always be used.
Newspapers use pull quotes to draw attention to the
text of a story after major headlines and minor headlines. Often in newspapers
it can be a "sensationalist'" quote "A dingo ate my baby!"
or simply a leading statement into the text itself.
