A network consists of a number of terminals and their peripheral devices are connected. Terminals can be dumb, smart or intelligent. Our computers at school are intelligent and are also called workstations. Our classroom is part of a Local Area Network (LAN). The file server is in the library.
Network topology describes how the computers are connected. There are ring, bus and star networks.
