2.4 Hierarchy Charts
Hierarchy charts use
top-down design, and are an effective way to show the different levels of the
process. A process is divided into sub-processes or modules. The major module
is at the lop level and control passes from the top down to the first refinement.

True or
False? Write out the true sentences and change the false sentences so that they
are true.
Modules are called subprocesses. |
If more detail is required in an hierarchy chart, further refinement is necessary. |
Each module in an hierarchy chart can have more than one entry or exit. |
Hierarchy charts are never changed. |
Hierarchy charts illustrate the structure of processes so that the system is more fully understood. |
The top level of the hierarchy chart contains the major module. |
Processors are the instructions that specify what processing is to be performed. |
Resources are whatever carries out or executes the procedures. |
The environment is the limit of the system. |
The black box is a system whose internal parts are not fully understood. |
