18.2 Page Layout

This is the arrangement of text and graphics on the page. Body text is often written in a serif typeface with lower case characters. Headings are written in either serif or sans serif.

White space is blank space on a page. It improves readability.

Typography is the work of setting and arranging characters. It involves column width, justification, line spacing or leading, indentation, hyphenation, letter spacing and kerning.

Reading gravity is the movement of the eye from the top left corner of the page to the bottom right. Good design promotes reading gravity.
