A spreadsheet uses a rectangular grid made up of rows and columns to organise and store data that requires some type of calculation. Electronic spreadsheets have five advantages over manual methods

Ø      Calculations are performed quickly and accurately

Ø      Editing of data allows mistakes to be easily corrected

Ø      Recalculation allows predictions to be made

Ø      Storage on disk

Ø      Reports can be presented graphically and in a variety of ways
