Einstein and Ether Wave Music

"Back in Berlin... on the twenty six of September (1927), Theremin strode onto the stage of Bechsteinsaal for his formal Berlin debut. The invitation-only audience of several hundred musicians, scientists, and composers was scattered with a handful of luminaries who came out to assess the new Aetherwellen-Musik: Albert Einstein, the tenor Leo Slezak, the Nobel laureate playwright Gerhart Hauptmann, and the conductor Bruno Walter." ([12], p.55)

ETHER WAVE MUSIC AMAZES SAVANTS, New York Times article of 1927 by W.Kaemffert chronicles the event.

At the beginning of the XXth century the ether wave nature of light was rejected by Einstein, but an young russian inventor Prof. Leo Theremin creatively reintroduced the term to promote his termenvox, an untouchable electronic music instrument. Interest it held was beyond scientific.

According to inventor Leo Theremin, Albert Einstein was open minded to visit his studio in New York in 1940s, tried to play a termenvox himself and duets with his violin.

Reading the above quote, it makes sense that in New York Albert Einstein was curious to experience the termenvox which he witnessed "Back in Berlin..."
