| PART 2 In the ER things were quiet. Eerily quiet. That was a general sign that a major emergency was going to happen. Probably more than they could handle but some how managed it. Kerry sat in her office looking at papers. Not reading them but trying hard too. She was brought out of her thoughts with a light knock at her door. She looked up and called out, 'Come in.' The door opened and Abby slipped inside. 'Hi Dr. Weaver.' Noting the desk full of papers Abby quickly added, 'If I'm interrupting I'm sorry. I can see you're busy. I should head back down to the ER anyway, all hell has broken lose, a drunk driver plowed into a building.' Turning and opening the door she continued, 'I can come back later. Sorry.' Abby was gone from the room and the door closed in an instant. Kerry stared at it. Kerry wondered what that was all about. She hadn't even had the chance to say anything. It was all a one sided conversation from a very nervous Abby. She was sure whatever it was Abby would be back to talk and maybe she would get a chance to speak. |
