| PART 10 Abby pushed the button for the elevator but it was taking too long. She ran up the stairs taking them two at a time. Finally she was at Kerry's office door. She wanted to barge in, declare her love but what if she was wrong? What if Kerry didn't feel the same and really did have to get to her office? Abby waited. Not sure if she should go in or not. Deciding to go over everything to see if she could figure out if Kerry did want her or not. She came to only one conclusion and that was that Kerry... Sitting on her office floor leaning against her desk Kerry cried. She knew this day would come eventually. She knew it as soon as she realized Abby wasn't coming around anymore. She knew it when Abby stopped staying over. She knew it because Abby's a wonderful person who deserved to be happy. Kerry didn't hear the door open and close but she felt the hand on the side of her head. Kerry looked up, tears in her eyes, and saw the object of her desire and heartache. 'I love you Kerry. I love you.' Kerry's tears flowed. She was hearing the words she had longed to hear for months. She wanted to speak but her voice failed. Abby took Kerry in her arms. After a few minutes Kerry pulled back. 'I love you too. I've missed you. Henry's missed you.' Hugging again Abby said, 'I've missed both of you. I didn't know you liked me, you know, liked me how I like you.' Kerry smiled and pulled back. 'I do like you, I like you a lot.' Both woman smiled. They knew this was the moment they were going to share their first kiss. Both moved closer, their lips almost met, they felt the others breath, when Kerry suddenly pulled back. Abby was startled, scared Kerry had changed her mind. 'Abby what about your date?' 'What? What date?' Abby asked, Kerry didn't want to stop this but what was she going on about. Abby wanted to kiss Kerry, she didn't care about some nobody she arranged a date with as a way to try and forget about the true love of her life. 'I'll call him later Kerry, now will you kiss me? Please? I've been made to wait long enough. So can we kiss?' She knew she sounded a little desperate but Kerry was so close. Kerry smiled at her, knowing how she was feeling, Kerry was feeling the same way. Kerry didn't want to say anything, she wasn't sure her voice would behave. She settled for a nod of her head. Abby smiled and leaned in to kiss Kerry. Finally their lips meet. Time stood still as fantasy met reality. The kiss was what they both hoped it would be and with one kiss they knew they had found what was missing in their lives. Pulling back both woman smiled. 'I hope we can do that again Kerry.' Abby said hopefully. Kerry smiled and said, 'Anytime.' Both women smiled before Kerry added, 'I was beginning to believe that happy endings only happened to other people, now I know better.' |
