Feels Like Coming Home
By Pavlov’s bell
Chapter 3

That was two nights ago and Kerry still hadn’t phoned Lopez.  Kerry reasoned that it was too late to call her tonight and she should go to bed.

Kerry woke and prepared herself for another shift at county.  She showered and dressed quickly.  Grabbing a travel mug full of fresh coffee she headed to the door.

Time seems to pass quickly when you’re in the ER. Chaos and mayhem never seem to be far away.  Kerry was on a well needed break, she had gone outside to get some air.  She leaned against a wall with her eyes closed.

“I thought you were going to call” asked a familiar voice.

Kerry snapped her eyes open and found herself staring straight into those deep, dark eyes she couldn’t get out of her mind.

“I’m sorry.  I just been busy, you know with work and I was gonna call. Tonight. Well I just…sorry……..it’s just I’m not good at this.  You know. I really don’t do this much”

“Did you get that out in one breath?”  Smiled Lopez “I’m so impressed”

Kerry looked guilty and Lopez flashed her a heart melting lop-sided grin

“How about I make this easy on the both of us.  What time you get off?”

“Seven.  Why”  Kerry cocked her eyebrow at Sandy

“I’ll be here then” Sandy winked and turned before Kerry had a chance to protest

“I’ll meet you here” called sandy over her shoulder.

Kerry watched as the gorgeous Latino walked away, her eyes couldn’t help but slip down to her ass.  Kerry mentally slapped herself for looking and returned to work.

At seven, Kerry stepped outside to find Lopez leaning on the same spot on the wall that Kerry was leaning on earlier.

Lopez’s grin dropped as she saw what Kerry looked like.  She was wearing scrubs that were torn slightly at the knee, and had something that looked like blood in her hair.

“Whoa Doc, rough night”

“You could say that” Kerry shrugged.

Lopez fell into step with Kerry as they rounded corner where Lopez was parked

“Where too?”

“My house. I’ll shower, change and then cook for us”

“Sounds like a plan.  Where d’ya live Doc?”

On the way home Kerry couldn’t help but look at sandy as she drove. Sandy knew that Kerry was looking at her, she glanced over at Kerry.  Their eyes met and both woman felt a jolt of electricity pass between them leaving a delicious feeling in their stomachs.

After a quite ride home, Kerry led sandy up the steps to her modest two bedroom house.

Kerry led sandy into the front room and handed her the t.v remote.

“Make yourself at home, I won’t be long”

Sandy looked up and asked straight faced “does that mean I can lounge about in my underwear, watching hockey and eating crackers?”

Kerry stared stunned and then broke into a fit of laughter.  Walking away she half yelled back, “There’s wine in the kitchen, make yourself useful and open us a bottle”

Kerry half ran around upstairs she moved as fast as her legs would allow.  She showered quickly and dressed even quicker.  ‘Calm weaver calm’ she told herself as she walked down the stairs.

She found Sandy watching ice hockey on TV whilst holding two full glasses of red wine.  Kerry rounded the sofa and looked at Sandy.

“You’re still dressed” commented Kerry in a very dry tone.

Sandy passed Kerry a glass, and then paused to slip her wine.  “I couldn’t find any crackers” she said in an innocent voice.

“Wanna keep me company in the kitchen?”

“Sure, what we having?

“It’s a surprise. So are you gay?”

Surprised by the sudden change Sandy looked a Kerry and laughed, “I am, and I like surprises”

After dinner they sat on the sofa talking and drinking their third bottle of wine.  Sandy slowed crept her hand on to Kerry’s knee.  Without breaking eye contact Kerry took Sandy’s hand into her own and started to gently play with those long, graceful fingers.

After a while sandy breaks away checking clock, it’s close to midnight “I should probably go home”

“You can’t drive, you’ve drunk too much”

“You’re right; I’ll get a cab, maybe”

“You could just stay” Kerry was surprised by her own forwardness, looked away embarrassed.  Sandy studied her for a second then leaned over.  Kerry felt Sandy’s breath on the side of her face.  Kerry turned her head.  As she did, Sandy gently grazed Kerry’s lips with her own.

Kerry raised her hand to Sandy’s face and gently caressed her face. Kerry’s thumb traced sandy jaw line and brushed her soft lips with her thumb.  All the time they never broke eye contact.  This time it was Kerry that leaned in for the kiss.

Sandy gently flicked her tongue out and run it over Kerry’s bottom lip inviting the kiss to deepen.  Kerry responded by parting her lips and caressing Sandy’s offered tongue with her own.  Kerry didn’t feel embarrassed like she had with previous lovers, this was different.  ‘It feels like….’

“It feels like coming home” Sandy read Kerry’s thoughts and gave them voice.

Kerry weaver didn’t believe in love at first sight.  But maybe love at first kiss was believable.

Kerry held out her hand, Sandy accepted and Kerry pulled her towards the bedroom.
