create rather than await the future."

We know this stuff!
(Uttered with a degree of bewilderment and frustration when we read the news.  "Why do people persist in avoiding to learn from the past?")
Rational thinking for an irrational world...

What is the place of irrationality in an increasingly rational world of explanations?

Nuggets about Historic Preservation
As the world becomes increasingly rational and complicated, are more people going to seek solace in irrational and "comfortable" (non-scientific) explanations?

"The Great Spirit feels your pain, so he is crying with you." This explains rain during a funeral and certainly alleviates the pain of mourners.  Such explanations are often necessary for children, but this attitude leaks into everyday life.  "Don't give me science, don't ask me to stretch my brain to learn analogies.  Just make me feel good" appears to be the message that many people give for not taking time to learn about emerging trends that will impact all of us.
